A Case Study
Success Story: Digital Transformation of Piping & Construction Management at IOCL Gujarat Refinery
The LuPech (Lube and Petrochemical Integration) Project is one of IOCL’s flagship refinery expansion programs, aimed at increasing crude processing capacity from 13.7 MMTPA to 18.0 MMTPA while significantly enhancing petrochemical integration and value-added product output.
As part of this mega expansion, Tata Projects Limited selected EPCPROMAN as the digital platform to manage and control the engineering, material management, piping construction, testing, and commissioning lifecycle for the EPCC-05 package.
The Client and Project Overview
Project Name: Petrochemical and Lube Integration Project (LuPech / J-18 – EPCC-05 Package)
Location: IOCL Gujarat Refinery, Koyali, Vadodara, India
Owner: Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL)
EPC / Engineering Consultant: Tata Projects Limited (TPL)
Digital Solution Partner: EPCPROMAN Private Limited
Project Status: Ongoing
Project Scale & Complexity
The project involves large-scale and highly complex piping execution, making digital control critical: – 15,863 piping isometric drawings – 381,210 inch-dia of piping fabrication and erection – Multiple process units including NHT, Penex, Fuel Gas System, Octamax Unit, and associated facilities
Managing such a volume using conventional tools posed high risks related to material wastage, schedule slippage, rework, and coordination gaps.
EPCPROMAN Scope of Implementation
EPCPROMAN delivered a comprehensive end-to-end digital implementation, covering configuration, deployment, integration, training, and operational support in line with IOCL standards and Tata Projects’ EPC execution methodology.
Software Modules Implemented:
- AUTOSPOOL – Piping spooling and erection management
- WHAM / STOREMAN – Warehouse & inventory management
- MATCONTRK – Material control and tracking
- SPOOLMAN–ERMAN – Spool fabrication, erection, welding, NDT, painting, test packs & commissioning
- PRODOCS – Electronic document management
